EP13
This week was one of those nonstop weeks where everything just piles on... But honestly, it felt good to be busy. Between wrapping up the final assignments and projects for my senior year and managing a crazy flow of inbound client messages and leads, there wasn’t a lot of downtime. Somehow, though, the energy stayed high.
I wrapped up a few school projects early in the week and then shifted into filming mode. Thursday night and Friday night were spent on the road, working in Pontiac and Decatur. Both nights had me behind the drone and the camera, shooting for a roofing company and an event with a few of my contractors, co-workers, and peers.
Thursday's shoot was a cool creative challenge... Everything was drone footage, but the goal was to make it feel like the viewer was right up there on the roof with the workers. It’s tricky because drones naturally pull you into those wide, sweeping shots, but here we had to get close, really capture the grit and movement, and make the audience feel the work happening. It pushed me to rethink a lot of my typical flying angles and get creative with perspective.
Balancing school and work at this level definitely isn’t easy, but weeks like this remind me why I love what I do. When the projects are exciting and the momentum keeps building, the late nights and packed schedules are more than worth it to me. Also, I was sick. So that sucked...
I'm just going to add in a few pictures of Saturday nights sunset in Peoria Heights instead of scrambling to make a slight show reel of my work from this week.
I can totally relate to how these remaining weeks have been a bit overwhelming. It’s cool that you’re pushing your creativity with the drone shots, sounds like a tricky but rewarding in the end. Also, the pictures turned out so good! Having some fun after all that hard work is definitely important.
ReplyDeleteThese last few weeks are brutal indeed, wish you the best on your last push for the semester and finals! These are incredible photos too man I'm a fan of the dark skies with the last bit of sunset, really sick!
ReplyDeleteWow, this brought back so many memories. I’ve been caught up in final projects, and now that we’ve only got two weeks left, it’s really starting to hit me. Seeing this spot… I’m actually tearing up. It was one of the first places I visited in Peoria freshman year, at night, eating ice cream with some of my teammates. Can’t believe how fast these four years flew by. Thank you for sharing Chris!
